"There it goes again, the slamming of the door"
Where did your heart go ? was included as a B-side to The Edge Of Heaven in the U.K. The song listed in the U.K Chart only from 2 August 1986, peaking at #28.
In october, it was later released separately as an A-side in many countries, as the duo's final single.
Produced and arranged by George Michael, the song is a cover of a track written by David Was and Don Was for the Was (Not Was) debut album in 1981. It was a downbeat and sombre affair that telegraphed the intentions of George Michael for the next decade's work and would fit musically on any of his solo albums.
The song only reached #50 in the U.S Billboard Chart, #54 in Australia, and did not much better in european countries (#23 in Austria, #37 in The Netherlands, #42 in France). It topped the Hong-Kong Chart.

WHERE DID YOUR HEART GO ?
(David Was / Don Was)

I spend my nights down on the wharf
In unlit alleyways
By the church downtown
Where Sally prays
Come down sometime
We'll share a rusty can of corn
And listen to the radio
I love you, I love you, it says

Where did your heart go
Did you put it on a train
Did you leave it in the rain
Or down in Mexico

You cry, but I don't know
I've heard it all before
There it goes again, the slamming of the door
Sometimes the river calls me
And at night it calls my name
Says "put your troubles down beside me"
Things have always been the same

Where did your heart go
Did you put it on a train
Did you leave it in the rain
Or down in Mexico

And rock 'n' roll won't teach me
What the river said that night
I jumped into this beauty
And drifted out of sight
